Lexi-Comp's Automated Download Utility for Apple Macintosh, Linux, or Solaris computers

Lexi-CONNECT automatically downloads Lexi-Comp ON-HAND products for Palm OS devices on Mac OS X (10.4 Tiger or higher), Linux, and Solaris computer operating systems.

Mac Users Note: Please visit www.lexi.com/downloads and choose the manual download method if your system runs OS X 10.3 or lower. The manual download page will include on-screen instructions.

Please Note: You must have administrative rights to your computer in order to install Java Web Start and access permissions to use Lexi-CONNECT (this should not be a problem if you are using a home or personal computer). If you are behind a corporate or institutional firewall, you may not be able to use Lexi-CONNECT at work, or you may need to configure settings to use Lexi-CONNECT. Installation Instructions

1. Your computer may already have Java 5 installed if you run Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger or higher. If not, please run Software Update from the Apple menu or System Preferences. Click on the 'Download Now' button below to install and run Lexi-CONNECT. Please follow the steps below for the remaining prompts that you will encounter. Linux and Solaris users, click here to first download and install Java. You may then click on the 'Download Now' button below to install Lexi-CONNECT and continue with steps 2 and 3.
   

2. Click 'Start' when requesting access and click 'Install' when prompted for library access at the security prompts.

3. Once Lexi-CONNECT is installed on your computer, please click here for instructions on downloading and installing the PDA software.

Instructions for Subsequent Updates

Future updates only require:

• Launching Lexi-CONNECT (double-click on the Lexi-CONNECT icon on your computer - see sample image below).

• Clicking the 'Download Now' button after making sure the programs you wish to have updated on your device have the 'install box' checked.
• Installing the handheld files onto your device

Lexi-CONNECT defaults:

Palm OS:

• Automatically "checks for" and "downloads updates", when Lexi-CONNECT is launched.

 

Lexi-CONNECT Change Logs

When updating your Lexi-Comp software, you will be able to clearly see what has changed since your last update. Within Lexi-CONNECT, you are able to click on the Current or Changed label within the 'Status' column. Once you click on the colored image, a web browser will display to show you what has been updated in that specific database.

When you click on a 'Changed' status column, you will see changes made to the database since the last time you updated.

When you click on a 'Current' status column, you will see all updates made in the past 7 days.

Lexi-CONNECT System Requirements Palm OS: Palm Desktop with Hot Sync Manager 4.0 or higher on a supported Mac (OS X 10.4 Tiger or higher), Linux, or Solaris as listed by java.com. Pocket PC Lexi-CONNECT on Mac OS does not support Pocket PC files. The Pocket PC is supported only on Windows operating systems.
